Surgery of the outer ear addresses its shape, size and position. Microtia is a congenital difference in which the outer ear is underdeveloped; it varies in degree and is assessed individually.

STEP 01
Examination of the ear and surrounding tissue, discussion of goals, and a plan specific to the case.
STEP 02
Photographic assessment and a written plan agreed with the patient or family before a date is set. Whether more than one stage is required is discussed here.
STEP 03
Carried out as agreed in consultation. Anaesthesia, surgical approach and expected duration are confirmed beforehand, not assumed.
STEP 04
Reviewed in scheduled appointments after surgery. The follow-up schedule is set for the individual case and given in writing.
